I feel a lot of us get trapped in the – always keeping busy mode – that whenever we do have a day to spare, we then don’t really know how to spend it. And instead of making a conscious decision to make time to pursue our hobby which really brings us joy and happiness, it is just another painful reminder that next to work, keeping busy, and of course spending time with the people that are important to us – there is still that little gap, there’s still the little – I wish I was in a sports club, or ‘I always wanted to try being part of a theatre group’. It goes back to us keeping busy – All the time. BUT, you as a person stand for sooooo much more than just work or going to the gym 3 times a week. So, it’s about time to find out what that something might look like.
Ultimately, we want to be able to identify ourselves through our passions, hobbies and interests. It gives us a sense of identity. And if we’re lacking this, guess what we do – we tempt to compare ourselves with others. Because we do look up to people that know exactly what they are good as this is something we wish for ourselves. And if these individuals then share their experiences and hobbies on Instagram or when we meet up, I feel a lot of women in their early 20’s then start wondering – hey what is my hobby? I wish I had something that fulfils me as much. Because hobbies do help us to understand who we are and what we like and it gives us something exciting to talk about. One of the key topics we cover in the business modules is how to promote ourselves and how to network and guess what, having a hobby that gives us a sense of identity and something exciting to talk about will absolutely help with things like networking as it helps with our confidence and simply makes us more interesting in conversations. Altogether I believe it’s an important aspect and a step we all can take to create the life we want.
It’s never too late to pick up a hobby. It all comes down to being a little curious and trying new things.
